If you’re a fan, or at least like F1, you will be excited about the news we have to tell you. A major film about the high-speed sport is about to be released. Although there are already many productions about F1, this film promises to be different from anything seen before. Even more immersive and realistic about the routine of F1 drivers, the film also features a privileged informant behind the scenes of the production. Find out everything about the film that promises to thrill F1 fans.

A hope for fans since 1950: F1: The Movie

Since the first F1 race in 1950 — the classic British Grand Prix, at Silverstone circuit — when the sport became popular, many films and series about it have been released, but none that truly portray the challenges of the sport in a realistic way. Fans have been waiting for a more realistic film for a long time, and they finally got their present! F1: The Movie hits cinemas around the world on June 27, and we have some very interesting things to say about it.

The film tells the story of a fictional driver named Sonny Hayes — played by actor Brad Pitt —, a driver who was very successful in the 90s and, after years away from the tracks due to a traumatic accident, is invited to return to compete by his long-time friend, former driver and now leader of the APXGP team.

What makes this film special and different from anything that has come before is the fact that it has contact with a very important support behind the scenes: 7-time Formula 1 World Championship winner Lewis Hamilton is co-producing the Hollywood film. This means that we will be able to see very specific details and great immersion into the reality of F1, with all the atmosphere of competition, rivalry, and partnership.

Authenticity on the racetracks delivered by Brad Pitt in cinematic form

The idea behind the film was to be as realistic as possible about F1, including the tracks and races, so that it would truly create an immersive experience for the audience. Therefore, the feature film was filmed in real locations where F1 takes place, on competition weekends, so that the entire atmosphere behind a Grand Prix could be portrayed truthfully in the film.

Lewis Hamilton’s partnership in the feature film as co-producer brings very detailed and realistic scenes about the sport, from braking techniques and gear changes to the intense physical training required of F1 drivers, even the iconic Silverstone circuit was used for the film. One piece of information that excited the audience was the names of great drivers in the sport — such as Lewis Hamilton himself, Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, and Charles Leclerc — being credited as part of the film’s cast. Will we see them with major or minor roles in the film?

F1: The Movie is an original Apple production and will be shown in theaters by Warner Bros., and is undoubtedly the largest investment in a film about the sport, with an estimated budget of over US$200 million. We can expect a great catharsis from the audiovisual production, for F1 fans and even for those who know nothing about the sport.

A legacy for future generations with the hope of generating new fans

The film, which brings a humanized approach to F1 — without being limited to the technical aspects of racing — will bring the public closer to a story that anyone can relate to: an accessible story, real scenes, and universal feelings, such as fear, courage, and the search for a new beginning. F1: The Movie brings memorable moments from the sport to the big screen, connecting it to the legacy it has held for generations.
