Bad news on Formula 1’s most-awaited change — ‘It’s simply not possible’

Frédéric Vasseur, the boss of one of the most famous Formula 1 teams, Ferrari, has been the talk of the Italian tabloids. After harsh criticism about the Italian media’s coverage of Ferrari and the 2025 F1 season, his reputation has not been looking good. The atmosphere behind the scenes at Ferrari has heated up, and there could be serious consequences for the clash that the Scuderia’s director arranged with Italian journalists. Find out more information about the case and what we can expect.

The atmosphere at Ferrari is not all pleasant

There have been a lot of rumors about Ferrari this year, especially after the current phase of F1, in which a wave of crisis seems to have taken hold at Ferrari. The reason for this crisis is the lack of titles won by the team this season — there is some speculation about this, and we’re going to talk about it, which has left the climate unstable within the Italian team.

These rumors, which emerged after this wave of crisis, were specifically spread through the Italian Automotive Journalists’ Union (UIGA), and one of them is that Frédéric Vasseur’s position may be at risk. The sensitive point of this whole issue is the reaction of the Ferrari director, who strongly criticized the UIGA’s stance and the rumors spread by them.

Vasseur expressed his indignation at the rumors about his position and even expressed his opinion on how this type of news can generate tension within the team and also outside it, with colleagues in the profession, such as Enrico Balbo — currently an engineer at Red Bull, the person who was supposedly considered to replace him. We need to understand exactly the reason behind these speculations and the unstable climate.

Where did the rumors about a crisis at Ferrari come from?

Ferrari is one of the greatest teams in the history of F1, that is a fact. But this season, there’s been talk of an unstable climate within the team and the possibility of internal conflicts. These rumors began to circulate in the Italian press for a specific reason: according to UIGA, Ferrari does not manufacture competitive cars as it used to, and this may be the reason why the team is not achieving good results in this first phase of the 2025 season.

The result in 2025 has not been what Ferrari’s top executives expected. According to the F1 experts, the fact that the team is not delivering such good cars is the root of the team’s problems this season. And the truth is that these cars may not be enough to compete for the F1 leadership with other teams, such as McLaren and Red Bull, which have been doing very well. The team’s two drivers, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, seem not to be satisfied with the start of the 2025 season, and much of this is due to their cars.

It was from this analysis and the possible dissatisfaction of Ferrari drivers with the team’s performance that rumors started to spread about the departure of Frédéric Vasseur and the hiring of a new director, Enrico Balbo. In addition to him, other people involved with the Italian Scuderia were the target of rumors in the media, such as Leclerc, whose departure was speculated but denied by the driver himself.

This might be a warning sign…

Following Vasseur’s statements, the UIGA took a stand in defense of the work of their journalists, who only comment on speculation in the sport, but with responsibility. Speculation or not, although Ferrari has a name in Motorsport, this has not been enough to achieve good results this season. This is a warning sign for Ferrari to resolve its internal conflicts and regain its unique prestige in F1.
