Ford seems to have a different perspective in terms of car manufacturing and what the global market prefers these days. Ford, one of the world’s largest car brands, has created some of the most remarkable vehicles throughout the various engine changes that have occurred to date in an increasingly EV-dominated world. Back in the day, Ford had a touch, an aura. Whenever you hear a roaring or thunder sound, you would know that this car is a Ford. For example, the F-150 to the Mustang. Fast forward to 2025, and Ford seems to be opening up about the market trends and changes.
Ford says people are not as enthusiastic about combustion cars like before
The one thing that defined Ford seems to be something they are now willing to let go of. While it is a huge factor, fuel efficiency and cleanliness do not seem to be the only reasons. Ford has expressed that the current and emerging generations are not as thrilled by combustion engines compared to the older generation. In fact, they believe that many people do not care about engines anymore.
This is a fact because buyers look at other aspects whenever they decide to purchase a car. Some people have expressed how they prefer a still and quiet engine that does not roar or thunder. Because of so much technological growth, people tend to be more enticed by cars that have those features and anything that just makes their driving experience easy, quick, quiet, and digital.
Ford declares aloud that gas engines are irrelevant to new purchasers
Vice Chair John Lawler openly expressed:
“I don’t think that consumers really think about powertrains the way they did 30 years ago. Where [combustion engines] defined what a vehicle was; the horsepower, the displacement, the torque, and everything about the vehicle; I think a lot of that is gone.”
In addition to that, the new generation of buyers does not actually care about what is running their car, be it the specifications, the size, the lifespan, or all of that. It is as if they do not have the time or interest in knowing and learning all about that. Unfortunately, that is how things are. Ford and other car brands should just identify what works for the new consumer and fit in their preferences so as to keep the business running.
What does this mean for Ford?
- Ford will rely mostly on digital and technological developments.
- Ford will have to learn and study their customers or others in general to see what exactly draws their attention.
- It also means Ford will have to pay more attention to interior, exterior, and quieter engines in the now or near future.
- Furthermore, the car brand should also keep focusing on clean engines and fuels that are eco-friendly to make their brand appealing to the market.
- It must just ensure that engineering development is good to avoid things like its recent recall of nearly 300,000 cars.
It looks like that is the alternative for the new generation. In addition to that, another thing Ford has managed to detect is the rise in interest in SUVs. This is because the interior and exterior designs seem to be more appealing than what they call under the hood. As the car brand is working hard to produce different engine types and working on its first-ever water-powered engine, trying to beat companies like Tesla, it shows the passion Ford has to ensure alternatives in clean engines. However, it has been made known to them that there is a different calibre with unique interests.
