  • Hometown: The Bronx, New York
  • Alma Mater: Fordham College (BA, 1969)
  • Graduated from Fordham Prep (NY) and then played at Fordham College for coaches Johnny Bach and Ed Conlin
    • Helped lead the Rams to two NIT appearances (1968, 1969); was team captain as a senior
  • Returned to Fordham in 1970 to be an assistant under Digger Phelps, then followed him to Notre Dame the following year
    • In seven total seasons on Phelps‘ staff, McLaughlin was part of five NCAA Tournaments (four Sweet Sixteens)
  • Hired in 1977 to be the head coach at Harvard, leading the Crimson for eight seasons
    • Went 99-110 overall, with three winning seasons but no postseason appearances
  • Became the athletic director at alma mater Fordham in 1985, a position he held for 27 years until his retirement in 2012
    • Inducted into the Fordham Athletics HOF in 2013 and the Catholic High School Athletic Association HOF in 1988
    • Still retains the title of Athletic Director Emeritus and serves as an advisor to the current AD
  • In November 2022, the floor at Rose Hill Gymnasium was dedicated in his honor as The Frank McLaughlin Family Court; the dedication followed a $2.5M fundraising project led by McLaughlin for renovations to the building
