  • Alma Mater: Butler University (BA & MA)
  • Played at Washington HS in Indianapolis, then at Butler from 1950-52 and 1956-57 for head coach Tony Hinkle
    • In between, Theofanis served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War
  • Began his career at Avon HS (IN), where he taught and coached basketball from 1957-62
  • He also taught and coached at Shortridge HS (IN) from 1962-70, including three years as head boys’ basketball coach (was a state runner-up in 1968)
  • Returned to Butler to be the head coach of the Bulldogs in 1970, leading the program for the next seven seasons
    • Went 79-105 overall and was named Indiana Collegiate Conference (ICC) Coach of the Year twice
  • After Butler, he worked for ITT Educational Service from 1978 until his retirement in 1995
  • Inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame (class of 2000)
  • Passed away in 2011 at the age of 79; survived by his wife, Colleen, son Tony, daughter Stephanie and five grandchildren
