Millions of American citizens could be losing out on this payment. As mid-year approaches, it is becoming clearer that this most-awaited stimulus check won’t be arriving at all. The DOGE $5,000 stimulus checks that citizens looked forward to won’t be reaching Americans and citizens will have to deal with the rising cost of inflation on their own. The reason that these checks will no longer arrive is due to political shifts and due to the buzz of uncertainty that always surrounded these dividend checks.

Where did the whole concept of these DOGE checks come from?

It seemed as if the whole concept of the DOGE check was not at all a federal program waiting to be administered. President Trump had given Elon Musk and his team of Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) members the task to cut down on federal waste repurposing it as savings. In his role, Musk happened to be taken aback by an idea proposed by investor James Fishback on social media. It was Fishback who stated that each taxpaying household deserved $5,000 from the accumulated government savings.

The idea proposed by Fishback was liked by Musk who suggested it to President Trump. In February 2025, President Trump took this idea further. There are no laws in place to stipulate how this endorsed payment gets paid out to citizens. Still much attention was given to the idea of allocating 20% of the DOGE’s savings to citizens.

Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) proposals falling flat

Musk’s own exit from the DOGE in May led to citizens doubting the longevity of the program. Further doubt was created when the DOGE publicly claimed having collected approximately $180 billion in federal savings, but a mere $70 billion of that amount could be verified. It seemed as if the DOGE and its initiatives were not transparent enough.

Congress leaders stepped up putting forth the doubt regarding these proposed stimulus checks by stating that any federally allocated stimulus checks would need to go through congress first and it is clear that these proposed DOGE checks did not go through this official channel.

Saying goodbye to the infamous DOGE checks this June

Internal lawmakers made it quite apparent that no such stimulus payment would be going out to awaiting citizens in June 2025 or anytime soon. Despite millions of Americans gullibly being led to believe the reality of this stimulus checks, it seems they were clearly misinformed. Despite the proposed DOGE checks being aimed at taxpaying households paying more taxes than receiving federal benefits, working class Americans were included into this equation enjoying the possibility of gaining these checks too.

It is the “lose” of these DOGE checks as information of these checks led citizens astray by building up excitement for these checks and offering somewhat of hope for this federal government assistance that would help citizens stay abreast of the rising costs for food and utilities. Yet these checks never received any official approval. The only $5,000 checks that got sent out this year was the checks sent out by the SSA (Social Security Administration).

Putting to bed the illusion of these stimulus checks

While the hype over these proposed checks had been created and the proposal was well-received by many citizens, there is no further confirmation pertaining to these checks. In fact, there is no budget allocated to these checks or federal infrastructure in place to administer these checks.

Although warnings about scams encouraging that $5,000 payments would be going out continues to surface, there is no concrete proof of any such payment being made to citizens anytime soon. The most recent $5,000 checks update made it clear that silence about these checks means that these checks do not have congressional support.
