Purdue assistant Greg Gary named head coach at Mercer

Mercer‘s next head coach will be Greg Gary, a Purdue assistant under Matt Painter for the last eight seasons and former head coach at Centenary.

“This is such an incredible opportunity and I am both grateful and honored to have been selected as the head men’s basketball coach at Mercer University,” Gary said in the press release Tuesday. “My family and I could not be more thrilled to have joined the Mercer basketball family and we look forward to joining the Macon community.”

Gary is an Indiana-native who went 16-44 in two seasons at (formerly Division I) Centenary in Louisiana. He also served as an assistant coach at Duquesne, South Florida, Miami (FL), McNeese State and alma mater, Tulane.
