Gus Malzahn steps down as UCF head coach, reportedly will take ACC job
UCF head football coach Gus Malzahn has stepped down after four seasons at the helm. He went 28-24 overall with three bowl appearances and led the Knights to a 4-8 (2-7) record this season.
UCF Athletics released this statement on Saturday:
“We would like to thank Coach Malzahn for his contributions to our football program over the past four seasons, including our transition into the Big 12 Conference. We appreciate his professionalism and dedication to our student-athletes throughout his tenure at UCF and wish he and his wife, Kristi, the very best in their future endeavors.”
Malzahn is reportedly taking over as the offensive coordinator at Florida State, a signal that Mike Norvell will return to coach the Seminoles in 2025 despite a disastrous 2-10 (1-7) campaign this year. The offense ranked fourth to last nationally in total yardage and points scored. It was a dramatic fall from grace for the program after going 13-1 and winning the ACC last year.
