  • Played football at Pittsburgh for head coach Jock Sutherland; was an All-American at guard
  • Started coaching football at the University of Scranton (PA) and then first arrived at Miami (FL) in 1937
    • Served as the line coach for the football program for many years under several head coaches
    • Took over as the head basketball coach in 1938, coaching the Hurricanes for four seasons
  • Joined the US Navy during World War II; participated in the D-Day invasion at Normandy, France
  • After the War, Morris returned to Miami and resumed coaching football and basketball
    • In 10 total seasons as head basketball coach, Morris went 119-82 overall
    • Led the Hurricanes to the NAIA Tournament in 1949 before the program moved to the NCAA
  • Passed away in 1969 at the age of 60; survived by his wife, Dorothy Mae, and their five children
    • Inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame (class of 1973)
