Heath Schroyer hired as McNeese State head coach

Heath Schroyer has been hired as the new head coach at McNeese State, the school announced on Thursday. Schroyer spent last season as an assistant at BYU and was previously the head coach at Tennessee-Martin, Wyoming and Portland State.

McNeese State parted ways with head coach Dave Simmons earlier this month following a 11-17 season. Simmons had been with the school for twelve seasons but was unable to lead the Cowboys to the NCAA Tournament during that time.

Schroyer has never been to the NCAA Tournament, but took UT Martin to two CITs and Wyoming to a CBI. He has 126 career wins as a Division I head coach.
