Honda gave us a sneak peek at its latest version of its new EV line set for release in 2026. The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is an annual event that gives tech geeks from around the world a chance to see and engage with the latest tech that the world’s best minds have to offer. It’s also an opportunity for the biggest car manufacturers to present concept and prototype vehicles for the future. Honda has been working on its rendition of the car of the future for a few years now, and they have taken the opportunity to give us a taste of it at CES 2025.

Honda is due to play a bigger role in IONNA to increase EV infrastructure.

The EV has become immensely popular in recent years. From the turn of the decade, companies like Tesla and BYD have led the automotive world in production and deliveries. While some car makers explore alternative fuel sources like hydrogen, and others stubbornly stick to good old gasoline, several major automotive manufacturers have come together to increase the presence and infrastructure of the electric vehicle.

IONNA is a partnership between several major brands to establish and improve existing electric vehicle charging infrastructure across North America. EVs have become the most popular vehicle on the market, and the infrastructure has improved as EVs have become more complex and capable of increased range thanks to improvements in battery technology. Honda has committed to playing a bigger role in IONNA leading up to the release of its new EV line.

The other major contributors to IONNA are:

  • BMW
  • General Motors
  • Hyundai
  • Kia
  • Mercedes-Benz
  • Stellantis
  • Toyota

How much progress has Honda made, and when can we expect its new EV line?

Honda revealed the 0 EV line at CES 2024, and the sleek design and futuristic technology amazed the attendees and the automotive world overall. The difference is that Honda actually plans to bring the car to production soon. Most car makers only go as far as to give the world a concept car every few years to keep the public interested, but a prototype is merely the first rendition of a car that is going to be available for purchase soon.

At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, Honda unveiled two cars from its new 0 EV line. The 0 SUV and 0 Saloon are the epitome of Honda’s new internally developed EV architecture known as the ‘Thin, Light and Wise’ approach. While details are slim regarding power output or any other specific info about the car’s capabilities, Honda has stated that the 0 series will be 100% made in the USA at its factory at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio.

Honda makes use of AI to improve the experience of driving its new 0 line.

The 0 series will double down on the ASIMO AI integration in the car. Using AI in a way that promises to cater to your individual needs. The AI will suggest routes and charging stations as well as handle the trip navigation for the driver. Honda has committed to a bigger role in IONNA, while its partners continue to explore other avenues for the world’s mobility needs.

Honda’s 0 series encapsulates its ‘Thin, Light and Wise’ approach for the future.

IONNA and Honda plan to invigorate the EV market in North America is promising; however, they need to approach the US market carefully and avoid any issues that might arise as a result of the new technology. Honda’s huge $5 billion investment in the American manufacturing sector has allowed it to circumvent any tariff issues thanks to the Ohio plant. The 0 series is reminiscent of the 1984 Pininfarina-designed HPX concept, which Honda stated was entirely on purpose. Can Honda become the global leader in the EV market thanks to the 0 series set for delivery in 2026?
