Alexander Isak thanks Newcastle fans

EPL clubs shatter transfer record on deadline day

Alexander Isak finally on his way to Liverpool

Manchester United pick up first three points of the season

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has publicly stated his thoughts on the Alexander Isak situation, claiming it’s a “lose-lose” for both parties involved. The English Premier League has been consumed by the Alexander Isak transfer situation, as the player has claimed that Newcastle has broken promises that were made regarding a potential transfer if a big team came knocking. That has led to Isak stating that he can not continue playing for Newcastle, and has not been an active participant in their preseason training, as well as Newcastle’s first few games of the new season.

Newcastle are not budging on their asking price for Alexander Isak

When Isak joined Liverpool from Real Sociedad, the Swedish striker made his wishes quite clear to the heads at Newcastle United. At the end of the season, if a big club, like Liverpool for example, came knocking, Newcastle would allow him to leave the club on good terms. However, what he did not count on was that Newcastle would put a massive price tag on him, which has led to the current situation.

Isak has claimed that Newcastle has broken their promises and, in what could be considered to be a tantrum by some, has stated that “the relationship can not continue.” Yes, we understand that promises were made, and in hindsight, Isak might have been better served keeping the situation behind closed doors. But alas, the situation has reached a fever pitch, and the ones suffering the most are the legions of Newcastle fans all around the world.

Eddie Howe says he will welcome Isak back to the team if he wishes to return

The situation has not been ideal for anyone. Isak is feeling betrayed by the club that catapulted him into soccer stardom. Newcastle is simply doing what is best for the club in this situation. Isak is a phenomenal player, as evidenced by his goal-scoring record last season for Newcastle. However, the very public statements point to a much bigger problem: his entitlement. How can a player who is technically on “strike” be welcomed back to the very team he is refusing to play for?

“Yes, of course. He’s contracted to us; he’s our player. My wish is that he would be playing on Monday night with us. But he won’t be, and that’s regrettable. I have no doubt about how the players will feel. They will feel the same way I do. Alex is a fantastic player, he’s a good person, a good character, and a good lad. If Alex wanted to come back and play for us, the players would welcome him.” – Eddie Howe

Eddie Howe is hoping to put the Alexander Isak saga to bed

Eddie Howe broke his silence on the matter in a recent press briefing as he fielded questions from reporters. Newcastle have failed to bring in any noticeable signings this season after losing out on Brentford star Yoane Wissa. They have previously lost out on several star players, including Hugo Ekitike, Benjamin Sesko, and Joao Pedro. His statements regarding Isak made his stance clear, he is still welcome in the Newcastle dressing room. Will the EPL see Isak playing in a Newcastle shirt again? Or will the champions, Liverpool, be able to entice Newcastle with a new offer?

I think it is a lose-lose situation to a degree for us because I don’t think we can come out of this winning in any situation. That is why I have said all summer, it is a difficult situation for the club to manage. We love Alex in the sense of what he has done for this football club since he has been here, what he has contributed, what he has given, how professional he’s been, and this has just been an unfortunate few months that looks like it is coming to an end. And it will come to an end pretty quickly, and then we can focus on the football again.”- Eddie Howe
