Real ID in Hawaii: Everything you should know before getting it

Hyundai Motor America is recalling nearly 10,000 vehicles in America due to ineffective labels on the headlamps, which may create inconvenience and problems for the drivers. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 recall will cause some inconvenience to drivers, but it shouldn’t take long to be attended to. Hyundai is doing its best to ensure that the repair does not affect performance or warranty.

Why the headlight sticker problem occurred, why it concerns you, and how to resolve it

The reason behind the recall is that some Hyundai Ioniq 5 2025 models possess inappropriate headlight aim labels. The labels can contain incorrect guidance on the adjustment of headlamps, as Hyundai itself says in the official recall notices. The effect of this will be that the headlamps will be pointed higher or lower than recommended to operate optimally, and this will seriously impair the visibility of the driver or possibly cause glare to oncoming traffic.

Headlight aim is also one of the most relevant in ensuring nighttime driving safety, and a little mis-aiming goes a long way towards it. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) was also informed about the defect, and Hyundai has also been fairly quick in rectifying the defect by instigating a program to recall the vehicles with the defect. Hyundai is currently occupied in re-flitting the faulty cars with the correct labels as soon as possible.

This is how Hyundai is alerting owners: How to proceed in case your vehicle is involved

Hyundai will inform owners of the recalled vehicles and how to have the label replaced at a franchised dealer. The fix is easy: dealers will replace the proper new headlight aim labels free to owners. Hyundai is urging all owners to act expeditiously on the notice letter to get their vehicle safety-compliant.

If you own a 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5, check your mail or contact your Hyundai dealer locally to determine if yours is included. The recall campaign number and other details are on the official notices of recalls.

All models included: Here is the full list and how it impacts Hyundai drivers

Only Hyundai Ioniq 9 and 5, and 9,894 American vehicles are being recalled. The authorities are not recalling any of the other Hyundai models. The affected units were manufactured between February 22, 2024, and May 28, 2024. To find out whether it is covered, the owners can look at the identification number of the vehicle (VIN).

“Hyundai is committed to the safety of its customers and is taking proactive steps to resolve this issue,” the company stated in its recall announcement.

Such quick action on the part of the company proves that keeping even compliance issues affordable at the cost of retaining and getting customers’ trust and regulatory compliance is never acceptable.

Here’s how to verify your VIN and what happens at the dealer

To determine whether your car is affected, locate your VIN (normally on the driver’s side dashboard or back of the driver’s side door) and call your Hyundai dealer or go to the NHTSA recall website. This will be an easy experience at the dealer as the mechanics simply need to install a placard and adjust the headlights. Hyundai is doing its best to ensure that the repair has no effect on performance or warranty.

As much as the recall concerns only one batch of 2025 Ioniq 5s, it should act as a reminder to all drivers to be attentive to hear manufacturer messages and recall notifications. The problems with safety and compliance with the federal government can be resolved in a timely manner, and ignoring recall notices can place you and other road users at risk.
