  • Hometown: Norfolk, Virginia
  • Alma Mater: Virginia Commonwealth University (BS, 1997 & MS, 1999) / George Mason University (M.Ed. 2003)
  • The Virginia-native has two degrees from VCU and later got a masters in education from George Mason in DC
  • Started his coaching career with a stint in the Chicago suburbs as an assistant for three years at Schaumburg HS (1997-2000)
    • The team captured an Illinois state title in 2000 while Thomas was on staff there
  • Returned to VA and became head coach at Edison HS (2002-05) in Alexandria; later took over at T.C. Williams HS (2005-08) also in Alexandria
    • Went 75-9 overall at T.C. Williams with three district titles and one state title (2002) in three years; named Virginia HS COY in 2008
  • Moved over to Kecoughtan HS in Hampton, VA in 2008, coaching there for the next seven years (2008-15)
    • Was 127-60 overall and won district titles in both 2010 and 2012
  • Throughout his HS coaching career in Virginia, Thomas also worked with the famed Boo Williams AAU program as 17U head coach (2002-15)
  • First hired by Ed Cooley in 2015 to be assistant director of player development and video operations, and was promoted to assistant coach in 2016
    • Spent eight total seasons at Providence, including five NCAA Tournament appearances (one Sweet Sixteen) and the 2022 Big East title
    • Followed Cooley to Georgetown in 2023 and was named associate head coach for the Hoyas
  • In March 2024, Thomas got his first collegiate head coaching job when he was hired to take over at Hampton in the CAA
