Jack Owens
Born April 3, 1977
Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana
Alma Mater: Eastern Illinois University (BA, 1999)
Started his collegiate career at Murray State, spent a year at Howard CC in Maryland and then finished his career and degree at Eastern Illinois; played at EIU under head coach Rick Samuels
- Spent one season as a student assistant on Samuels’ staff at EIU in 1999
After one year each as an assistant at Howard CC and Barton County CC, returned to his alma mater as a full-time assistant
Hired in 2003 by Matt Painter as an assistant at Southern Illinois; staying on four more years under Chris Lowery
Re-joined Painter in 2008 as an assistant at Purdue; was promoted three years later to associate head coach in 2011
- In his nine years in West Lafayette, Owens was part of seven NCAA Tournaments and one CBI
Hired in March 2017 as the new head coach at Miami (OH), his first head coaching opportunity
- Went 70-83 overall in five seasons with the RedHawks; went to the CBI in 2018
- Fired in March 2022 following a 14-18 season, his third time finishing below .500
Joined Chris Holtmann‘s staff at Ohio State in April 2022 as an assistant coach
- Followed Holtmann to DePaul in 2024 and became an assistant coach for the Blue Demons
