- Alma Mater: University of Arizona (BA, 2003)
- Played high school ball at North Central HS in Indianapolis; named a McDonald’s and Parade All-American as a senior in 1999, earning the coveted Indiana Mr. Basketball title
- Played four seasons at Arizona under Hall of Fame head coach Lute Olson
- Was an AP All-American twice (third-team in 2002 and second-team in 2003)
- Had his jersey number #22 retired by the school in 2005
- Standing just 5’10” tall, Gardner won the 2003 Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award
- After going un-drafted in 2003, Gardner played for eight seasons overseas in Slovenia, Belgium, Israel and Germany
- Started his coaching career in 2011 as an assistant to Porter Moser at Loyola (IL)
- Joined former Arizona teammate Josh Pastner‘s staff at Memphis two years later
- Named the head coach of the IUPUI Jaguars in his hometown of Indianapolis in March 2014
- Went 64-94 in five seasons at the helm, reaching the postseason just once (2019 CIT)
- Arrested in August 2019 for an OWI in Indianapolis; resigned from his position two days later
- In August 2020, Gardner was hired to be the head basketball coach at his alma mater, North Central HS in Indianapolis
- Returned to his other alma mater, Arizona, in 2021 as the new director of player relations on Tommy Lloyd‘s staff
