- Alma Mater: University of Georgia (BA, 2006 & MA, 2008)
- Played for four seasons at UGA under head coach Dennis Felton, then spent two seasons as a graduate assistant there
- First arrived at Wofford in 2008, spending two seasons as an assistant under head coach Mike Young
- Continued his coaching career with stints under Chris Holtmann at Gardner-Webb and Niko Medved at Furman
- Returned to Wofford in 2017, spending two seasons as Young‘s associate head coach
- Was a part of the 30-5 2018-19 Terriers squad that won the SoCon title, SoCon Tournament and won the program’s first ever NCAA Tournament game (over Seton Hall)
- Elevated to head coach in April 2019 following Young’s departure to Virginia Tech
- McAuley was 58-42 in 3+ seasons at the helm, finishing above .500 in all three full seasons; named Skip Prosser Man of the Year in 2022
- On December 5th 2022, Wofford announced that McAuley would be taking a leave of absence and on December 30th, he resigned
- Along with his wife, Sallie, has one daughter
