  • Hometown: Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania
  • Alma Mater: Saint Francis University (BA, 1983)
  • Started his coaching career as an assistant at Penn State under head coach Bruce Parkhill
  • Next he worked on the staff at Marist under Dave Magarity for nine seasons, including five as associate head coach
  • Left Marist in 1995 to become a scout for the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA; in 1997 he was promoted to Director of Scouting
    • Spent the 1998-99 season as an assistant under Hornets’ head coach Dave Cowens
    • Returned to the front office, serving as assistant GM for two years and then the GM for two years
    • Later spent another season as an assistant with the then-New Orleans Hornets under Tim Floyd
    • Spent one year as Director of Player Personnel (2003-04) and then again served as GM from 2005-10
    • After firing Byron Scott nine games into the 2009-10 season, Bower took over himself and went 34-39 over the rest of the year
    • Bower hired Monty Williams as head coach in 2010 before mutually parting ways with the franchise
  • Returned to Marist in 2013 to be the head coach of the Red Foxes; went 12-19 (9-11) that season at the helm
    • The following off season, he decide to go back to the NBA and became the GM of the Detroit Pistons
  • Spent four years as the Pistons’ GM (2014-18), then spent three seasons as Senior VP of Basketball Ops with the Phoenix Suns (2019-22)
