  • Hometown: Owensboro, Kentucky
  • Alma Mater: University of Virginia (BS, 1982)
  • Starred at Apollo HS (KY), later being inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame
  • Was a four-year starter at Virginia playing under Terry Holland; was drafted by the Pacers in 1982 but did not play for them
  • Spent eight years on Holland‘s staff at Virginia until 1990 when he took over as the Cavaliers head coach
    • Went to five NCAA Tournaments (two Sweet Sixteens) and won an NIT title in 1992 at UVA
  • Was the associate head coach under Jerry DeGregorio before being hired as the head coach at American University; won 211 games in thirteen seasons with the Eagles, going to two NCAA Tournaments
  • Hired in April 2013 as the new head coach at Old Dominion; led the Monarchs to a CBI and NIT in his first two seasons, then won the inaugural Vegas 16 Tournament in 2016
