  • Alma Mater: University of North Carolina at Greensboro (BS, 1978) / James Madison University (M.Ed, 1985)
  • The TN-native started his collegiate career at Surry CC (NC) before finishing his career and degree at UNC Greensboro; played for the Spartans under head coach Jack Mehl
  • Started his coaching career right away, spending two years as an assistant at Carroll County HS (VA) before serving as the school’s head coach for the 1980-81 season
  • Joined the college ranks in 1981, spending one season as a part-time assistant under coach Lou Campanelli at James Madison
  • Spent three years as an assistant at D-III Randolph-Macon (VA) before serving as the head coach at D-III NC Wesleyan
    • Went 21-7 (11-3) in his lone season at NCWU, winning the USA South Athletic (f/k/a Dixie) Conference title
  • Was a Division I assistant for the next nine seasons, working under head coaches Steve Vacendak (Winthrop), Kevin Eastman (UNC Wilmington) and Randy Peele (UNC Greensboro)
  • Went 61-27 in three seasons as the head coach at D-II Wingate University (NC), winning two regular season titles and one conference tournament; appeared in two D-II NCAA Tournaments, reaching the second round each year
  • Returned to the Division I ranks in 2000, spending five seasons as an assistant coach at Tulane under head coach Shawn Finney
  • Arrived at Air Force in 2005, working as an assistant under Jeff Bzdelik for two years before becoming head coach in 2007
    • Won 63 games in four and a half seasons at the helm, reaching one postseason berth (2011 CIT)
    • Was fired in February 2012 in the middle of the MWC season, with a record of 11-10 (1-6) at the time (63-82 overall)
  • Joined Buzz Williams‘ staff at Marquette in 2012 as director of basketball operations
    • Followed Williams to Virginia Tech two years later and spent three seasons in the same capacity for the Hokies
    • Spent the 2017-18 season as Williams’ Director of Scouting/Game Management
  • Hired in 2018 to be an assistant coach at Texas A&M under head coach Billy Kennedy, but Kennedy and staff were fired in 2019
  • Joined the coaching staff at Clemson in 2021 as special assistant to head coach Brad Brownell
