  • DeGregorio was born in Connecticut and raised in the Bronx, graduated from St. John’s
  • Started his coaching career at Hofstra, where he spent three years as an assistant under Dick Berg
  • Worked as an assistant at D-II St. Thomas Aquinas College (NY) and Mattatuck (now Naugatuck) CC (CT); spent one year as the head coach at the latter, 1991-92
  • Was the head boys’ basketball coach at St. Thomas Aquinas HS (CT) from 1993-97
  • Joined Jim Harrick‘s coaching staff at Rhode Island in 1997 and two years later was elevated to head coach of the Rams
    • Went just 12-48 in two seasons at the helm before getting fired in 2001
  • Moved on to the professional ranks, working as an assistant with the Los Angeles Clippers (under Alvin Gentry) and Golden State Warriors (under Mark Jackson) in the NBA; also spent one year with the Fayetteville Patriots of the NBDL as an assistant
