  • Born November 5, 1974
  • Hometown: Kinston, North Carolina
  • Alma Mater: University of North Carolina (BA, 1999)
  • Starred at Kinston HS (NC) before transferring to Oak Hill Academy (VA) for his senior year; was a Parade All-American and earned MVP honors for his performance in the 1993 McDonald’s All-American game
  • Played at North Carolina for two seasons under Hall of Fame head coach Dean Smith
    • Helped lead the Tar Heels to the Final Four in 1995, earning first team All-ACC and AP All-American honors
    • Declared for the 1995 NBA Draft and was selected 3rd overall by the Philadelphia 76ers
    • Despite leaving early, Stackhouse went on to finish his bachelor’s degree at UNC in 1999
  • Spent 18 seasons playing in the NBA, playing for eight different teams in his career
  • After retiring in 2013, Stackhouse spent some time working in broadcasting with Fox Sports Detroit and the ACC Network
    • Also launched (in 2011) an Atlanta-based AAU program, Stackhouse Elite
  • Began his coaching career in 2015, joining Dwane Casey’s staff with the Toronto Raptors
  • A year later, Stackhouse became the head coach of the Raptors’ G-League affiliate, the Raptors 905
    • Went 70-30 in two seasons with the team, winning the G-League title in 2017 and finishing as runner-up in 2018
    • Was named the G-League Coach of the Year in 2017, his first season as a head coach at any level
  • Became an assistant with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2018, working under head coach J. B. Bickerstaff for one season
  • Hired in April 2019 to become the head coach at Vanderbilt, his first collegiate coaching role
    • In 2023, Stackhouse was named SEC Co-COY and won the Ben Jobe Award as the top minority head coach in D-I
    • Was 70-92 in five seasons, but went from 22 wins in 2022-23 to just 9 in 2023-24 to finish in second to last in the SEC (4-14)
    • In March 2024, Stackhouse and Vanderbilt mutually agreed to part ways after five years
