- Played high school basketball at St. Dominic in Oyster Bay, NY for head coach Ralph Willard
- Started his collegiate career at Boston University playing under head coach Rick Pitino
- Finished at Rhode Island, playing two seasons under Tom Penders
- First college coaching job was as an assistant at Western Kentucky under his old high school coach, Ralph Willard
- Spent time as an assistant to Tom McConnell, Matt Kilcullen, Herb Sendek and Stan Heath
- Took over for Heath as the head coach at Kent State in 2002
- Won 137 games over six seasons and reached two NCAA Tournaments and three NITs
- Spent four years as the head coach at TCU, reaching the CBI 2012 but never the NIT or NCAA
- Next stop was a two-year stint at Ohio, where he went to the NIT in 2013 and CIT in 2014
- Won 24 and 25 games in his two seasons for an overall record of 49-22 at Ohio
- Has been the head men’s basketball coach at Boston College since April 2014
- His teams finished below .500 in six of his seven seasons at BC, but the Eagles did reach the NIT in 2018
