Every year since 2003, CollegeInsider.com has awarded the Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year Award (or simply, Jim Phelan Award) to recognize the top men’s Division I college basketball coach of the season. The award is named after Jim Phelan, a College Hall of Famer who spent 49 years as head coach of Mount St. Mary’s (1954-2003) and compiled 830 career wins.
