Jim Whitesell is out after four seasons as Buffalo head coach
Jim Whitesell will not return as Buffalo‘s head coach next season, the school announced on Saturday. Whitesell went 70-49 over four seasons at the helm and is coming off a 15-17 campaign, only his first sub-.500 record since taking over.
“At this time, we felt it was necessary to make a change in leadership of our men’s basketball program,” AD Mark Alnutt said in a statement. “We want to thank Jim for his eight years at UB, including the last four as head coach. We wish he and Connie nothing but the very best moving forward.”
Whitesell got the job in 2019 after spending the previous four seasons with the program as an assistant under Nate Oats.
