Jimmy Allen out after seven seasons as Army head coach

Army West Point AD Mike Buddie announced on Wednesday that head men’s basketball coach Jimmy Allen was out after seven seasons. Allen went 98-112 overall and is coming off a 17-16 campaign, only the second winning season of his tenure.

“As is our practice following each season, we conducted a holistic review of all facets of the program,” Buddie said in a statement. “We are thankful to Coach Allen for his years of service to the program and to these cadets. We are excited for the future of Army Basketball with a new leader to continue to elevate the program and provide an extraordinary Division I Experience. We wish Coach Allen the very best in the next chapter of his career.”

The Black Knights have never played in the NCAA Tournament and were last in the NIT in 1978. Allen did lead the program to the CBI following the shortened 2020-21 season.
