Joe Callero will not return as Cal Poly head coach

After ten seasons at Cal Poly, head coach Joe Callero‘s tenure is coming to an end. Callero will continue to coach the Mustangs for the remaining two games this season, though the team did not qualify for the Big West Tournament. He is currently 126-182 during his tenure, which includes the program’s only trip to Division I NCAA Tournament in 2014.

“I’d like to thank Joe Callero for his ten years of dedicated service to our university,” said Director of Athletics Don Oberhelman in a statement on Wednesday. “Joe embraced the academic rigors of Cal Poly and worked very hard to give every one of his students the chance to graduate.”
