- Joseph Gerard Dooley III
- Born January 29, 1966
- Hometown: West Orange, New Jersey
- Alma Mater: George Washington University (BA, 1988)
- Played at George Washington for head coaches Gerry Gimelstob and John Kuester; elected captain as a senior
- Was an assistant at South Carolina (1988-91) under George Felton, then at East Carolina (1991-95) under Eddie Payne
- Spent four seasons as the head coach at East Carolina in the 1990s, going 57-52 overall and 30-36 in CAA play
- Also spent time assisting Fran Fraschilla (New Mexico), Steve McClain (Wyoming) and Bill Self (Kansas) before being hired as FGCU head coach
- Led the Eagles to the postseason in each of his five seasons as head coach, including two NCAA Tournament berths
- Left FGCU in April 2018 to return to East Carolina, now a member of the AAC, for a second stint as head coach
- Went 44-67 in his second stint – and 101-119 overall at ECU – and was fired a second time in March 2022
- Dooley returned to Kansas, becoming Bill Self‘s director of student-athlete development in August 2022
