- Alma Mater: Saint Joseph’s University (BA, 1999)
- Played for head coach Phil Martelli at Saint Joseph’s and was part of the Hawks team that reached the 1997 Sweet Sixteen
- Started his coaching career as an assistant coach at La Salle under head coaches Speedy Morris and Billy Hahn
- Spent two years as an assistant under Fran O’Hanlon at Lafayette before his first stint at Hartford, where he was associate head coach under Dan Leibovitz for two seasons
- Was the associate head coach at Penn for two seasons under Glen Miller before getting the Hartford opportunity
- Actually spent a couple weeks in the 2010 off-season as the associate head coach at Boston College under Steve Donahue
- Hired in June 2010 as the head coach at Hartford, a position he has held ever since
- Is 169-207 through twelve seasons and has led the Hawks to the CIT twice (2013, 2018)
- In 2021, Gallagher’s squad won the America East Tournament to reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history
- The school announced in 2021 that its athletic programs would transition from Division I to Division III; the Hawks played the 2022-23 season as a Division I Independent ahead of their move to the D-III Commonwealth Coast Conference in 2023
- Just one day prior to the start of the 2022-23 season, Gallagher announced his resignation, citing a lack of support for the program resulting in critical violations of player safety
- In March 2023, Manhattan announced it had hired Gallagher as the Jaspers’ new head coach
