- Jakus worked as a professional coach in Europe, serving as head coach at ABA Strumica in Macedonia (2010-11) and for Agape Bulgaria (2007-09); he also worked with Athletes in Action as volunteer head coach for both NCAA and professional basketball trips (2005-08) and as international basketball head coach and director (2008-14)
- He initially joined Scott Drew‘s staff in 2012 as a graduate assistant, working with the Bears for two seasons
- Left in 2014 and spent the next three years at Gonzaga working as Director of Basketball Operations under Mark Few
- Part of three WCC titles, three NCAA Tournaments and the Zags’ first-ever trip to the NCAA Final Four (2017)
- Returned to Baylor in 2017 as an assistant coach and was later elevated to associate head coach in 2022
- Worked under Drew for another seven seasons, a tenure that included five NCAA Tournaments, two Big 12 titles and the program’s first-ever NCAA National Championship crown in 2021
- In March 2024, Jakus was hired as the new head coach at Florida Atlantic in the AAC
