  • Served in the US Navy in World War II in the Pacific for three years; in the U.S. Naval Officer Training program, Curran was educated at Canisius, Cornell and Penn State, earning bachelors’ and masters’ degrees from the latter
    • Curran also played basketball at Penn State from 1943-44 for head coach Earl Leslie; served as team captain
  • Spent six seasons as the head coach at Canisius, going 76-66 overall and winning two Western NY3 titles
    • Led the Golden Griffins to three-straight NCAA Tournaments, winning two Tournament games each year (6-3 overall)
