Josh Eilert
Born December 2, 1980
Hometown: Osborne, Kansas
Alma Mater: Kansas State University (BS, 2004 & MS, 2007)
Graduated from Osborne HS (KS), where he was twice all-conference, and spent two seasons as a starter at Cloud County CC (KS)
- Transferred to Kansas State and spent two years as a walk-on with the Wildcats’ for head coach Jim Wooldridge
Became a graduate assistant under Wooldridge in 2005 and continued in that role for another year under new head coach Bob Huggins
Followed Huggins to West Virginia in 2007, becoming video coordinator with the Mountaineers; part of WVU’s 2010 NCAA Final Four staff
- Spent a total of sixteen years working under Huggins in Morgantown, holding a variety of titles, including eight seasons running basketball operations and two seasons as a full assistant coach (2016-17 and 2022-23)
In June 2023, a week after Huggins’ resignation, Eilert was named interim head coach for the forthcoming 2023-24 season
- Went 9-23 in his lone season at the helm in Morgantown and did not get the permanent job
Joined Craig Smith‘s staff at Utah as an assistant coach in June 2024
