  • Alma Mater: Wake Forest University (BA, 2006)
  • Spent three years at West Charlotte HS (NC) before spending his final year at Oak Hill Academy (VA), where he was roommates and teammates with future NBA star Carmelo Anthony
  • Went on to play for Skip Prosser at Wake Forest for four seasons; went to three NCAA Tournaments and one NIT with the Deacons
    • The 2002-03 team won an ACC title and the 2003-04 team, featuring Chris Paul, reached the NCAA Sweet Sixteen
    • Was First-Team All-ACC as a sophomore in 2004 and then Second-Team All-ACC in both 2005 and 2006
  • Spent 12 years playing professionally overseas, including stints in Belgium, Czech Republic, Greece, Ukraine, China, Germany, France, Turkey, Beirut, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Belarus and Romania
  • Started his coaching career in 2019 as an assistant at Winthrop under Pat Kelsey, who was an assistant at WF during Gray’s playing career
  • Hired in April 2021 as the new head coach at Western Carolina, replacing Mark Prosser – the son of his former coach, Skip Prosser – who had accepted the job at Winthrop to replace Kelsey
