SDSU’s Justin Hutson hired by Fresno State

Longtime San Diego State assistant Justin Hutson has been hired as the new head coach at Fresno State. Hutson has been at SDSU for the last five years, his second stint at the school totaling ten seasons.

Fresno State is on a streak of three straight 20+ win seasons (and four in the last five years), all under former head coach Rodney Terry. Hutson will step in to build off the success of Terry, who was hired last month to take over at UTEP.

This is the first head coaching opportunity for Hutson, a Bakersfield native who has spent nearly his entire coaching career in the Golden State. In addition to playing and coaching at Cal State Bakersfield, he spent four seasons as the head coach at Bakersfield HS in the early 2000’s.
