Played at then-Division II CSU Bakersfield for four seasons under head coach Pat Douglass
Began coaching career at his alma mater, spending two seasons as an assistant under Henry Clark
- Continued at the high school level, leading the Bakersfield HS Drillers for four seasons
After one season on Kevin Bromley’s staff at Cal Poly, Hutson was hired by SDSU head coach Steve Fisher in 2006
Stayed on Fisher‘s staff for five seasons before spending two years as associate head coach at UNLV under Dave Rice
Returned to SDSU in 2013, spending three more seasons as an assistant under Fisher
- Elevated to associate head coach in 2017 under new Aztecs head coach Brian Dutcher
Hired in April 2018 to become the next head coach at Fresno State
- Led the Bulldogs to 23 wins in his first season, earning the Joe B. Hall Award as the nation’s top first-year head coach
- In 2022, Hutson and the Bulldogs won the inaugural The Basketball Classic title (normally branded as the CIT)
- Was let go in March 2024 following a second-straight 20+ loss season; Huston went 92-94 overall in six seasons
