  • Played at then-Division II CSU Bakersfield for four seasons under head coach Pat Douglass
  • Began coaching career at his alma mater, spending two seasons as an assistant under Henry Clark
    • Continued at the high school level, leading the Bakersfield HS Drillers for four seasons
  • After one season on Kevin Bromley’s staff at Cal Poly, Hutson was hired by SDSU head coach Steve Fisher in 2006
  • Stayed on Fisher‘s staff for five seasons before spending two years as associate head coach at UNLV under Dave Rice
  • Returned to SDSU in 2013, spending three more seasons as an assistant under Fisher
    • Elevated to associate head coach in 2017 under new Aztecs head coach Brian Dutcher
  • Hired in April 2018 to become the next head coach at Fresno State
    • Led the Bulldogs to 23 wins in his first season, earning the Joe B. Hall Award as the nation’s top first-year head coach
    • In 2022, Hutson and the Bulldogs won the inaugural The Basketball Classic title (a CIT replacement)
