- Norton was the head men’s basketball coach for 22 seasons and is the winningest coach in program history (300 victories)
- Won six conference titles (4x Metro NY and 2x Metropolitan) and went to the postseason eleven times (2x NCAA, 8x NIT, 1x NAIA)
- Reached the Sweet Sixteen in 1958 by upsetting Jerry West and top-ranked West Virginia in the first round
- Norton also coached baseball and golf at different points throughout his time at Manhattan
- Stepped away as head basketball coach in 1968 but remained at Manhattan as athletic director until retiring in 1979
- Inducted into the Manhattan College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989
