Kevin Durant has a long list of suitors this offseason. Several teams are looking to bring the 2-time NBA Champion to their organizations for what could be the last couple of seasons in his career. Durant has had a long and illustrious career in the NBA, not to mention his international achievements (KD has won four gold medals for the USA team). Following a string of disappointing stints with the Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns, Kevin Durant is reportedly going to be traded this offseason. We list the potential suitors here.
The offseason is going to see several trades as teams look to rebuild
This offseason is expected to see several teams making big-name trades in an attempt to rebuild their squads in preparation for next season. On Sunday, the Grizzlies and Magic struck a deal for Desmond Bane to make his way to the Orlando Magic. In exchange, the Magic will give up Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, four first-round picks, and a future pick swap.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is at the center of the trade rumors in Milwaukee. Giannis has spent his entire NBA career with the Bucks and won several accolades and titles with Milwaukee. Following the Bucks’ disappointing season, many have speculated as to whether the Bucks might be looking to offload the Greek-Nigerian star in favor of a rebuild. However, Giannis has stated that he does not wish to leave Milwaukee, and the feeling seems to be mutual.
One player we are certain will be changing teams this offseason is Kevin Durant. Durant has a limited amount of time left on his playing clock before Father Time calls his number. Durant started his career playing for the Seattle Supersonics(now the Oklahoma City Thunder). From there, he moved to the Golden State Warriors, where he won two Championships. Following that, he moved to the Nets and finally to his current team, the Suns.
Kevin Durant has some difficult choices to make this offseason
Following his less-than-ideal time in Brooklyn and Phoenix, KD has become the talk of the town in the NBA. John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM had the following to say about KD’s future:
“I expect Kevin Durant will be traded from the Phoenix Suns next week. We’ve said it all along that he will be traded by the draft. Outside shot that something happens sooner. But I’m gonna say that next week, my expectations are Kevin Durant is traded.”
Here are a few possible locations for Kevin Durant for next season.
- New York Knicks – The Knicks are reportedly looking to bolster their squad following their Eastern Conference Finals exit at the hands of the Indiana Pacers. The trade rumors state that the obvious move would be to trade Karl Anthony-Towns for KD.
- Minnesota Timberwolves – According to reports, the Timberwolves tried to trade for Durant on deadline day at the beginning of this season. The trade never happened, and one suspects that the Wolves would have put up more of a fight against the Oklahoma City Thunder if Kevin Durant were on the floor.
- Houston Rockets – The Rockets are in the middle of a rebuild. Their squad is full of young, talented players who propelled the Rockets to the first round of the playoffs this season. After extending Steven Adams’ contract, the Rockets are reportedly looking for a deal with the Suns to bring KD to Houston.
What jersey will Kevin Durant be wearing next season?
Kevin Durant is a championship-level player, and as such, he has a hefty price tag attached to him. Whatever team decides to trade for KD will need to offload some of their more expensive contracts to bring KD to their organization. The Spurs are reportedly also interested in trading for Kevin Durant, but all we can do is speculate as to where KD will be playing next season. Durant has stated that he wants to play for a championship-contending team and does not have the time to wait for improvements. Which one of the teams interested can make the best offer for KD?
