Was a student assistant coach as an undergrad at Oklahoma State alongside future National Champion head coach Bill Self; the head coach at the time was Leonard Hamilton
Spent two seasons as the head coach at Tyler JC (TX) from 1997-1999
Worked on the coaching staffs of Jerry Loyd (Louisiana Tech), Tim Carter (UTSA), Eddie Sutton and Sean Sutton (Oklahoma State) and Bill Self (Kansas)
Was an assistant under Billy Kennedy at Texas A&M for five seasons before getting the Stephen F. Austin job
