- Lindsey Benson Hunter Jr.
- Born December 3, 1970
- Hometown: Utica, Mississippi
- Alma Mater: Jackson State University (1990-93)
- After graduating from Murrah HS in Jackson, MS, Hunter played at Alcorn State under head coach Davey Whitney
- Was named the 1989 SWAC Freshman of the Year after his lone season with the Braves
- Transferred back home in 1989 to play for Andy Stoglin at Jackson State, lettering for three seasons with the Tigers
- Following his senior season, Hunter was named the 1993 SWAC Player of the Year
- Drafted 11th overall in the 1993 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons, the team on which he spent most of his career
- Played 17 seasons in total, spending time with the Pistons (12 seasons over two stints), Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls
- Head coaches Hunter played for in the NBA include Don Chaney, Doug Collins, Alvin Gentry, George Karl, Phil Jackson, Lenny Wilkens, Larry Brown, Flip Saunders and Vinny Del Negro
- Won two NBA Championships: in 2002 with the Lakers and 2004 with the Pistons
- After getting waived by the Bulls in March 2010, Hunter became a player development assistant in the team’s front office
- Joined Alvin Gentry’s staff with the Phoenix Suns as an assistant coach in 2012
- Named interim head coach in January 2013, leading the Suns for the final 41 games of the season (12-29 record)
- Spent one year as an assistant with the Golden State Warriors under head coach Mark Jackson
- Moved to the college game in 2016, spending one seasons on Nate Oats‘ staff at Buffalo
- Hired in April 2019 to be the new head coach at Mississippi Valley State, returning to his home state and to the SWAC
- Was placed on administrative leave in February 2022 and then resigned in March with a 7-75 overall record
