List of NCAA National Champions
The first NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament took place in 1939, featuring 8 teams playing in single-elimination format and culminating in the Oregon Ducks defeating the Ohio State Buckeyes 46-33 to win the NCAA National Championship. The NCAA Tournament has grown in size considerably since then, first expanding to 16 teams in 1951, 32 teams in 1975, 64 teams in 1985 and the current 68-team field in 2011 (with some additional changes along the way). The Tournament is now known as the Big Dance or March Madness, with most games taking place in March while the Final Four & National Title games are in early April.
