James Madison has fired head coach Louis Rowe, who was 43-85 in four seasons

After four seasons at the helm, James Madison head basketball coach Louis Rowe was fired on Monday morning. The Dukes were 43-85 under Rowe, including a CAA last-place finish this season (9-21 overall, 2-16 CAA).

It was a difficult tenure for Rowe, who played at JMU back in the 90s and started his coaching career as an assistant at the school before becoming the head man. After a small win improvement last year, the Dukes dropped back down to the basement of the CAA and administration was compelled to make the change this week.

Here are a few names that make sense for JMU: Rider head coach Kevin Baggett (former JMU assistant), Rhode Island assistant Kevin Sutton (a JMU alum) and Oklahoma assistant Carlin Hartman (another former JMU assistant). One other name that Stadium’s Jeff Goodman floated out there is former head coach and current ESPN studio guy Seth Greenberg.
