This is the sixth time that the Mercedes-Benz Superdome (opened in 1975 and f/k/a the Louisiana Superdome) will host the NCAA Final Four – previously doing so in 1982, 1987, 1993, 2003 and 2012 – and the sixth time for the city of New Orleans. In addition to hosting the Final Four, New Orleans served as an opening round site in 2007 and 2010 and a regional finals site in 2011. All three of those events were hosted at the Smoothie King Center (f/k/a New Orleans Arena), home of the New Orleans Pelicans NBA franchise.
