Mark Fox fired after four seasons as head coach at Cal

California announced today that Mark Fox has been fired after four seasons as head men’s basketball coach. Fox went 38-87 overall and is coming off a 3-29 season, the worst in the program’s 116-year history.

“I want to thank Mark for his unwavering commitment to our men’s basketball program,” AD Jim Knowlton said in a statement. “He led the team through some challenging times, and always did so with the class and professionalism we have come to expect from him. Mark understood and embraced our University’s mission and ideals, and was always an exemplary representative of our department. I wish him the best of luck in the future.”

Fox has been atop our Hot Seat Report all season and we previously published a list of potential candidates to replace him at Cal. Now that the job is officially open, be on the lookout for a revised version of that list!
