Alma Mater: Georgia Institute of Technology (BS, 1986)
Played four years at Georgia Tech under legendary head coach Bobby Cremins
- Was a two-time AP All-American and four-time All-ACC player for the Yellow Jackets
- Inducted into the Georgia Tech HOF (1991), Georgia Sports HOF (2005) and his number #25 was retired by Georgia Tech
Spent twelve years as an NBA point guard after being drafted 25th overall by the Dallas Mavericks in 1986
- Spent time with the Cavaliers, Bullets, Warriors and Magic
- Played for head coaches Lenny Wilkens, Mike Fratello, Jim Lynam, Rick Adelman and Chuck Daly
- Scored 10,989 points, dished 4,863 assists and grabbed 1,848 rebounds
Was an assistant coach for one season at Georgia Tech under Cremins
Held various coach consulting and television analyst jobs before starting his NBA coaching career in earnest in 2007
- Had a number of assistant coaching positions with the Grizzlies, Hawks, Warriors, Magic and Hornets
  - Worked under head coaches George Karl, Mike Woodson, Keith Smart, Stan Van Gundy and Steve Clifford
Hired in March 2015 to become the head coach of the Charlotte 49ers, his first NCAA head coaching position
- Fired on December 14, 2017 just eleven games into his third season at the school
Hired in 2018 to join Michael Malone’s staff as an assistant with the Denver Nuggets
Along with his wife, Laura, has four children
