Matthew Wayne McCall
Born December 12, 1981
Hometown: Ocala, Florida
Alma Mater: University of Florida (BS, 2004 & MS, 2006)
Has two degrees from UF, where he served as a men’s basketball student manager under head coach Billy Donovan
Spent two seasons on Donovan’s staff as the Director of Basketball Ops before being hired as an assistant at Florida Atlantic under Mike Jarvis
Returned to Gainesville in 2011 as a full-time assistant for Donovan, a position he kept for four seasons
Hired in April 2015 as the new head coach at Chattanooga, his first job outside the state of Florida
- Won the SoCon regular season and Tournament titles in 2016, leading the Mocs to the NCAA Tournament in his first year
In March 2017, McCall was hired as the head coach at UMass
- Went 61-82 in five seasons at the helm but never reached the postseason; fired in March 2022
Spent the next couple years out of coaching, working as a college basketball analyst for NBC, Sirius and the Field of 68
Joined Chris Mack‘s staff at College of Charleston in April 2024 as an assistant coach
