Matt McKillop promoted to head coach at Davidson
Following the retirement of long-time head coach, Bob McKillop, Davidson announced the hiring of associate head coach and former player Matt McKillop. McKillop is Bob’s son and has been on the Wildcats’ staff for the last fourteen seasons.
This is the first head coaching opportunity for McKillop, who has spent nearly his entire career working under his father at his alma mater. Elevated to associate head coach in 2016, Matt was part of six conference titles and five NCAA Tournaments during his 14-year tenure on the bench.
Matt played at Davidson for four seasons (2002-06) and still ranks as one of the best three-point shooters in program history. He was a senior in 2006 when the Wildcats went dancing, the third NCAA bid for Bob.
