Metro NY Regular Season Champions
Full list of Metro New York (NY) Conference men’s basketball regular season champions, including head coach, by year. The conference was established in 1933 with ten members and dissolved in 1963 with five remaining institutions. Of the eleven schools that were associated with the Metro NY at any point, seven are still affiliated with the NCAA Division I (Columbia, Fordham, Hofstra, Long Island, Manhattan, St. Francis (NY) and St. John’s). The conference’s name was a reference to the geographic location (metropolitan NYC) of the member schools. In 1950, CCNY won the NCAA National Championship (see below in bold), though a point-shaving scandal would eventually lead to the program’s decline from Division I glory to their now home in Division III.
NOTE: There was never a men’s basketball tournament in this conference.
