The Metro Conference awarded Metro Player of the Year honors every season from 1976-77 through 1994-95. Only one player won the award three times – Clarence Weatherspoon (1990-92) from Southern Miss – while two others won it twice each. Louisville is the program with the most winners (eight), followed by Southern Miss (three).
