  • Played at Alabama under long-time Tide head coach Wimp Sanderson; selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1983 NBA Draft
  • Played professional basketball for several years overseas, returning to the US in 1988 to play for the Topeka Sizzlers of the CBA
  • Started his coaching career in 1989, spending time as an assistant at D-II Miles College and D-III University of Chicago before being hired by David Hobbs at his alma mater, Alabama, in 1995
    • Also spent four years as an assistant for the Wichita Falls Texas, a minor league team in the CBA, from 1990-1994
  • Spent four seasons as an assistant at Indiana under to legendary head coach Bob Knight
  • Returned to his home state in 2006 to be the head coach at UAB, making four postseason appearances in six seasons
  • Following the abrupt resignation of Texas Southern’s Tony Harvey in August 2012, Davis was named interim head coach
    • During his first year, he signed a deal to officially become head coach and had tremendous success in the years following
    • The Tigers have won four SWAC titles and four SWAC Tournaments in six years under Davis
  • In June 2018, Davis accepted the position of head coach at Detroit Mercy in the Horizon League
  • Has two sons and one daughter
