  • Alma Mater: Northeastern University (BA, 1968)
  • Played for the Northeastern Huskies under head coach Dick Dukeshire; also played on the school’s baseball team
  • Stayed at Northeastern after graduating as an assistant coach to Dukeshire for three seasons and then one each under Jim Bowman and Jim Calhoun
  • Spent four years as an assistant to Tom Sanders at Harvard before returning to his alma mater, Cambridge Rindge and Latin HS
    • Was at Rindge for seven seasons, coaching the likes of Patrick Ewing, Karl Hobbs and Rumeal Robinson during his tenure
  • Returned to the college ranks in 1985; spent five seasons at Boston University and eight at George Washington
    • Went to six NCAA Tournaments and four NITs during his time with those two programs
  • Spent six seasons as head coach at St. John’s, going to the 1999 NCAA Elite Eight and winning the 2000 Big East Tournament
    • Jarvis’ time at SJU ultimately ended in a resignation amidst a pay-for-play scandal that resulted in 45 wins, one NCAA Tournament appearance and the 2003 NIT title being vacated by the NCAA
  • Worked in the media for several years, as a college basketball analyst at ESPN and then with Yahoo! Sports
  • Became the head coach at Florida Atlantic in 2008 and held that position for six years
    • Only finished above .500 once, in 2010-11 when the Owls won the Sun Belt and went to the NIT
  • Along with his wife, Connie, has one son and one daughter
